William Henry Smith established a woolscouring company on the Taruheru River at Hexton, near Gisborne, in 1894. Over the last 116 years descendants of William Smith's have adapted to changing circumstances in the wool industry to ensure their farmer clients obtain the maximum nett return for the wool.
We currently have access to all the main buyers and users of crossbred wool and run a very efficient,fast and lowcost system handling wool from all over the Gisborne/East Coast region. We are the largest locally owned private woolbuyer and have been for many years.
